Honey bee venom (or apitoxin) is a complex mixture of chemical substance and can be used as a pharmaceutical product over the human body. Bee venom therapy can be used by some as a treatment for rheumatism, multiple sclerosis and joint diseases due to its anticoagulant properties.
Honey bee venom has been used in researches for cancer treatment because of its component, melitine. It can destroy cancer cells without effecting the functional ones and many patients that were treated with bee venom presented a rather encouraging range of results. Patients suffering from chronic diseases, such as arthritis, gastric ulcer and myalgia had been also under bee venom therapy and their condition got better.
Scientists insist on researching and using honey bee venom and melitine as a treatment. The results are quite hopeful.
